The Fonthill Lions are pleased to announce the Chefs who will competing on August 12 for SLIDERFEST 2023 “People’s Choice” Award for the best tasting slider.

SLIDERFEST is a friendly competition among five local restaurants for the best tasting slider.  It features live music, dancing, games and activities, grand prize, penny raffle and 50/50 draws. And new for this year is an Experiential Silent Auction with some really unique experiences up for bidding.  It is fun event for all ages.

“SLIDERFEST is a fun way to engage the community,” says Don Vloet, owner of Dun for You Contracting, Presenting Sponsor for the event.  “And who doesn’t like a little friendly competition among chefs?”

‘We’re excited to see what our Chefs will come up with this year” says Fonthill President Pat O’Hara. “SLIDERFEST is an excellent opportunity to showcase what our local restaurants have to offer. We have an amazing collection of Chefs all from the Niagara Region.”

Returning challengers are reigning champion The Butcher and the Banker and The Righteous Monger (Kame & Kettle) from Fonthill.  Competing for the first time are 1954 Bourbon & Smoke from St. Catharines, Culinary Dropout from Fonthill and Smokin’ Buddha from Port Colborne.

Ticketed guests who attend SLIDERFEST will be served each of the five specialty sliders and encouraged to cast their vote for their favourite. The winning slider will be announced at SLIDERFEST.  The winning restaurant will be awarded with the Top Slider Trophy and bragging rights for the next twelve months.

The early-bird ticket price prior to June 30 is $35 (plus HST) and includes one of each of five sliders, a serving of Fonthill Lions French fries, local corn on the cob and a non-alcoholic drink. Entry for children under 12 is free.  Kids menu items including hot dogs, French Fries and individual sliders will be available for purchase.

Local blues band The Rhythm Hounds are returning for the fourth year playing live in the park starting at 5pm.

There are only 500 SLIDERFEST tickets available on a pre-sold basis. Event organizers recommend not to leave it to the last minute because the event does sell out quick. Early bird SLIDERFEST tickets are for sale online at www.sliderfest.ca or via email at info@sliderfest.ca.
