The City of Welland’s River Road Industrial Subdivision is welcoming its first ground-breaking development. Kit Steel is constructing a new 12,787 square foot rebar fabrication facility on a 3.27 acre lot. The manufacturing facility will bring approximately $8.26 million of private sector investment to the city.
Kit Steel was able to purchase and develop its new industrial property with support from the City of Welland Niagara Gateway Economic Zone and Centre Community Improvement Plan. Financial incentive programs support developments that revitalize, strengthen, and diversify the economy.
The River Road Industrial Subdivision—located along River Road and Downs Drive—has two lots (25 acres) remaining from the original six lots for sale. The subdivision is fully serviced and shovel-ready for development.
“On behalf of Council and myself, I would like to thank the management at Kit Steel for their confidence in our staff and community, which has resulted in their decision to construct and operate a new 12,787 square foot facility in Welland,” said Mayor Frank Campion. “A combination of available serviced industrial land, a dedicated and effective development team and attractive incentive programs fuels economic growth and provides opportunities for businesses such as Kit Steel to succeed in our city. This, in turn, creates local jobs and opportunities for local businesses.”
“Kit Steel is the first company to begin construction in our new River Road Industrial Subdivision, and we are thrilled to welcome them to Welland,” said Dan Degazio, General Manager, Economic Development, Recreation & Culture. “They are another company to take advantage of our competitively priced land, expedited development approval process, and lucrative incentive programs.”
