From 2017 to 2019, the Fonthill Lions hosted a highly successful fundraising event called SLIDERFEST, however due to pandemic restrictions it has been in a hiatus since 2020.  Back by popular demand, SLIDERFEST is returning on August 12, 2023 with a mix of tried-and-true favourites and some new exciting twists that are yet to be announced.

The event is a friendly competition among five local chefs for the best tasting slider as voted upon by guests in attendance.  It features live music, dancing, games and activities, draws for a grand prize, 50/50 and raffle table treasures, plus a silent auction with high-value experiential items for bidding.  It is fun outing for all ages.

“SLIDERFEST is a cool way to engage people in raising money for community service. When I heard that the title/presenting sponsorship came up for grabs, I decided that I wanted to be a significant part of its success this year,” said Don Vloet, owner of Dun for You Contracting. “I am a small business and without the community support I could not achieve what I have.  It is important to me to give back.”

It’s a “people’s choice” contest for the chefs.  Ticketed guests who attend SLIDERFEST are served each of the five specialty sliders and then cast their vote for their favourite. The winning chef will be awarded with the coveted Top Slider Trophy and bragging rights for the next twelve months. Participating chefs will be announced soon.

The early-bird ticket price prior to June 30 is $40 (inc. HST) and also includes a serving of the Fonthill Lions famous French fries, local corn on the cob and a non-alcoholic drink. Entry is free for kids under 12.  Kid’s Menu Items including hot dogs, individual sliders, fries, corn, freezies and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

There are only 500 SLIDERFEST tickets available on a pre-sold basis. Event organizers recommend not to leave it to the last minute because the event does sell out quickly. SLIDERFEST tickets are available from any Fonthill Lions Member or online at www.sliderfest.ca.
