The Niagara Ontario Envirothon is back and better than ever! High school students are encouraged to join us for an exciting environmental academic challenge, led by Forests Ontario and proudly facilitated by NPCA at Ball’s Falls Conservation Area.
Explore the wonders of the natural world in engaging workshops, discover potential career paths with industry experts, and put your skills to the test on competition day!
About Envirothon:
The 2024 Ontario Envirothon program will consist of in-person regional events in select communities and a provincial event (format TBD).
Online Registration for the 2024 Ontario Envirothon is now open. Click here to register your team! Online registration will remain open until March 22, 2024.
If there are no in-person regional events in your community, or your region is at capacity, please contact envirothon@forestsontario.ca to discuss options. If you have questions about the Ontario Envirothon program, please contact Forests Ontario for more information.
Envirothon teams will participate in in-person regional events testing their knowledge on materials provided here. Teams will vie for a spot to participate in the provincial competition where the top teams from each region will be invited to compete.
The provincial Ontario Envirothon competition’s format is to be determined at a later date, but will occur at the end of May 2024. The winning Ontario team will have the opportunity to advance to the NCF-Envirothon competition hosted by New York Envirothon to represent the province.
Registration fees are $250 (plus tax) per team of 5 students to participate.
Participants can register teams in the Ontario Envirothon as part of the following:
- As a team of 5 students from the same school or community organization who love science, the environment or being outdoors
- As part of regular classroom study
- As a special project
- Through an extracurricular club (E.g. Environmental Club, Outdoors Club)
- Part of a community group
As part of an Ontario Envirothon team you will:
- Learn about environmental science;
- Contribute to community science projects;
- Develop innovative solutions to environmental problems;
- Gain exposure to career opportunities;
- Connect with environmental community in Ontario.
