Life never runs in a straight line for anyone. Like a river, there are obstacles all of the time that give us no choice but to change direction, to find a different path. In an effort to settle the path for those unknowingly awaiting a turbulent rapid in their journey, we have banded together to launch an initiative with a goal to raise $50,000 for the Niagara chapter of ALS Canada.
ALS Canada assists an estimated 3,000 Canadians and their families currently living with the disease. Each year, approximately 1,000 Canadians lose their battle and die from the complications of ALS and a similar number are newly diagnosed. Eighty percent of those lose their life within 2-5 years of this shocking diagnosis. An unimaginable consequence.
As you are aware, a canoe paddle is a timeless Canadian icon that represents simplicity, utility, and nature. It symbolizes an essential instrument one needs to explore and journey through all stages of life with. It symbolizes change and beauty. And pulling together, we will forge ahead.
The ultimate hope of our ‘Paint a Paddle’ Initiative for ALS Canada, is to be used for artistic expression, to harness creativity and to knit a community together by forging towards a common goal – that is supporting individuals and their family that continue to navigate their journey with ALS.
We invite the community to participate in the creation of something spectacular! This Online Auction will be a true reflection of the strength of community. Running November 9 to 15th.
