The Niagara Health Foundation is proud to announce that the McCall MacBain Foundation has generously pledged $5 million to the It’s Our Future campaign in support of the new South Niagara Site of Niagara Health. In recognition of the donation, the Auditorium in the Interprofessional and Learning Centre will be named The MacBain Family Auditorium. The donation will help fund the construction of the state-of-the-art hospital as well as new, specialized programs to be offered at Niagara Health, which will be announced in the near future.
Founded by John and Dr. Marcy McCall MacBain in 2007, the McCall MacBain Foundation’s mission is to improve the welfare of humanity by providing scholarships and other educational opportunities that nurture transformational leadership, and by investing in evidence-based strategies to address climate change, preserve our natural environment, and improve health outcomes. John McCall MacBain was born and raised in Niagara Falls and has long supported initiatives in his hometown. For his achievements as a business leader and his contributions to academic institutions as a philanthropist, John was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2016.
“I feel fortunate to have grown up in Niagara Falls and giving back to the community has always been important to me. We all need healthcare at one time or another, and the Niagara South Hospital will help meet the evolving needs of our community. I’m also thrilled that this gift will support an excellent teaching and learning environment for the next generation of healthcare workers, including for local talent.” – John McCall MacBain, Founder, Director, and Chair of the McCall MacBain Foundation
“We are incredibly grateful to the McCall MacBain Foundation for their support of the It’s Our Future campaign. This donation will help us build a world-class hospital that will provide the highest quality healthcare services to the people of Niagara. Their generosity is a testament to their commitment to making a positive impact in the Niagara community.” – Andrea Scott, President and CEO, Niagara Health Foundation.
The new South Niagara Site of Niagara Health will feature a full range of healthcare services, including emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, and mental health and addiction services. The hospital will also have centres of excellence in Stroke Care, Aging and Wellness and Complex Care. In addition, the South Niagara Site will incorporate the latest technology and medical research to provide the best possible care to patients. “Thank you to the McCall MacBain Foundation for a donation that will benefit Niagara Health in a multitude of ways. It will help us build what is going to be a transformational healthcare facility for the region and I’m also excited about the additional projects we’ll be announcing in the near future that are directly a result of the McCall MacBain family’s generosity. We are so appreciative of a gift that will have a lasting impact on healthcare in Niagara and beyond. – Lynn Guerriero, President and CEO, Niagara Health.
