Niagara Falls holds an important place in Black history as a final destination of the #UndergroundRailroad, a secret network that helped enslaved people escape to Canada.

The region offers several ways to explore and pay homage to the heroes and heroines of the Underground Railroad, including visiting Niagara Parks’ displays and monuments, following the scenic #NiagaraRiverParkway, and taking a hike or bike ride on the #NiagaraRiverRecreationTrail.

Along the way, visitors can learn about Niagara’s role in the Underground Railroad, see the spot where #HarrietTubman first crossed into Canada, and read about other historic moments that took place in the region.
