Greetings! My name is Christine Monfriese, proud owner of Monfriese Rum Cakes, located at 4606 Queen Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario.
I was a TTC bus driver for 10 1/2 years. About 7 years in, I found the job to be stressful and no longer wanted to be there.
I had a passion for baking and knew that one day I would own a bakery. Life without risks is no life at all. After submitting my resignation, I packed up and moved to Niagara region to start fresh.
I enrolled in a one year Baking & Pastry Arts program at Niagara College while operating a storefront. Within one year, my dream came true. This was possible with the help and guidance of some amazing people I I’ve met in Niagara region, especially the staff at Spark Niagara.
It definitely feels great to be my own boss and run things my way.

Black Owned 905 is a movement designed to support and uplift black owned businesses in Niagara, and surrounding areas.
