Announced on October 31, 2024, the Niagara Community Foundation is honoured to be named in the inaugural list of Canada’s Top 50 Equitable Funders. The annual ranking assessed the country’s 500 largest grantmakers based on seven categories, including foundations’ demonstrated action on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), transparency and funding practices.
Earlier this year, NCF was approached to take part in a survey regarding our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Though we have made a concerted effort over the last few years to prioritize and strengthen our organization in this way, we had little expectations of making the top 50 list in the first year. Receiving the news was such an honour. NCF was ranked number 44 along with many of our community foundation peers.
“We are proud and humbled to be named among a group of aspirational peers” says Bryan Rose, Executive Director of NCF. “This designation motivates us to continue on this vital and important journey.”
NCF sends a big congratulations to the Toronto Foundation for ranking #1 in the country. This gives the organization another reason to be proud of it close ties with such an inspirational and supportive foundation.
As stated in on the Future of Good website, “Celebrating the Top 50 Equitable Funders isn’t just about recognizing their progress; it’s about envisioning a future where equity isn’t aspirational but core to every act of grantmaking and investing, driving meaningful lasting change for generations to come.” At NCF we are more committed than ever to continue to prioritize DEI in every aspect of our work and we are grateful for a staff team, Board of Directors and charity partners who continue to push us do better.
