The Welland Civic Centre Art On The Wall program is proud to continue its tradition of showcasing local talent by providing artists with a space to display their work. Located in the foyer of the Welland Public Library, this initiative invites the community to engage with the vibrant local art scene.
We are thrilled to announce our next featured artist: Irina Laucius!
Irina is a self-taught abstract expressionist and mixed media artist, originally from Belarus, who now calls Welland, home. After spending over 25 years in Canada, Irina made the bold decision to transition from a successful career in banking to pursuing her passion for art full-time. Her background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, which adds an intriguing depth to her work as she explores the dynamic worlds of acrylics, mixed media, and watercolours.
Irina’s artistic approach is defined by spontaneity, boldness, and a focus on the harmony of colours, marks, and forms. Her creations are deeply inspired by music, nature, and her own life experiences, resulting in abstract works that invite viewers on a journey of discovery. Each piece reveals her unique process of expression, combining textures, contrasts, and vivid tones.
Her work has been widely exhibited, including solo exhibitions at Lithuanian House in 2019 and 2020, as well as being featured in the online gallery ArtWe in Toronto. Irina has also participated in multiple exhibits at Art in a Workplace at McMaster University’s Atrium in Hamilton. She is a proud member of the Visual Artists of Welland, actively contributing to the local art community.
