Supporters of United Way Niagara will gather at the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre in St. Catharines on September 10 to flex their muscles and raise funds to kick off the annual United Way campaign.
The 3rd Annual Firetruck Pull, presented by John Deere Canada, is the official kick-off and aims to raise critical funds and awareness for United Way across Niagara. The event will see teams of ten people pull a 12-tonne firetruck 100 feet, competing for fastest pull time, best team spirit and highest funds raised per team.
The cost to enter a team is $1,500, which can be raised by individual team members (peer-to-peer), corporate sponsorship or a mixture of the two. Registration for teams is still open but there are limited spaces left. Once a team registers, they are given a custom fundraising page to share with their network. All donations receive a tax receipt.
The day promises to be a fun and uplifting experience, with music, food and excitement for all attendees. Spectators from the community are welcome and there is no cost to enter and cheer on your friends. The 2024 campaign fundraising goal will also be announced by returning campaign chair, Brad Steeves. About United Way: United Way Niagara exists to support the most vulnerable people, when and where they need it, by investing in life-changing programs that strengthen the social safety net and build capacity in Niagara. We face poverty head on, addressing the interconnected issues it causes every day; homelessness, food insecurity, isolation, mental health and addiction. United, we address the challenges of today – meeting basic, urgent needs – while building a stronger community for everyone who lives here, paving the way for a better tomorrow.
