Day of Pink is recognized globally as a day to stand in solidarity and allyship with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities against homophobic hate and violence. This year’s theme is Courage! We invite students, staff, and faculty at NC to wear pink on Wednesday to show their support for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Learn more about International Day of Pink and this year’s theme.
Initiated in 2007 in Nova Scotia, where high school students wore pink in support of a classmate and member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community who was being bullied for wearing the colour; this day is recognized to promote anti-bullying, anti-homophobia and acceptance, diversity, and inclusion for all. Students, staff and faculty at NC are encouraged to wear pink on Wednesday to show their support for treating everyone with respect and kindness.
The ncLibraries are providing opportunities for the NC community to support Day of Pink. Students can pick up pre-made buttons or use materials to make their own at the library. Colouring sheets and book displays will also be available at ncLibraries.
The large NC button installations located at the entryways of both campuses will be illuminated in pink on Wednesday.
Join us and show your support by wearing pink and taking a stand against bullying. Together, let’s create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
