Habitat for Humanity Niagara
Habitat for Humanity Niagara is a team of enthusiastic volunteers, community partners and staff. We are guided by our values and committed to transforming the lives of people in need through affordable housing.
Through generous support from individuals, businesses, and community groups, we are able to help families in Niagara improve their lives through affordable homeownership.
Habitat for Humanity selects families who are ready for the responsibility and challenges of homeownership, but would not qualify for a bank mortgage.
Habitat’s path to homeownership is an important and in-depth process, requiring hard work, time and dedication. But this helps to ensure the long-term success of Habitat homeowners.
Anyone can apply to become a Habitat homeowner, but must be in need of housing, able to make affordable mortgage payments and be willing to actively partner with their local Habitat, including a commitment to completing 500 volunteer hours. If you are selected to become a Habitat homeowner, your local Habitat will work with you to help prepare you for the responsibilities of homeownership, which may include workshops on budgeting, home maintenance and more.
Habitat ReStores
Habitat Niagara's Restores are home improvement stores which sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, kitchens, appliances, building materials, and much more for a fraction of the retail price, plus you never pay the HST. Whether you're looking to renovate your kitchen or bathroom, re-furnish your living room, or fix up your basement, the ReStore should be your first stop!
