Organizers for SLIDERFEST are thrilled to announce the Grand Prize Sponsor for this year’s fundraising event is Kokomo Botanical Resort. The Grand Prize Package is comprised of a three-night stay for two adults in a Classic Cottage at Kokomo Botanical Resort in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The prize package includes a three-day car rental and $50 daily resort credit good for dining at Kokomo’s famous WE Grill + Wok restaurant, luxurious Balinese Spa Treatment or Island Eco-Adventures Tour. Grand Prize package includes a $750 airfare allowance.
The Grand Prize winner will have the option to extend their stay at Kokomo at a rate of 10% off the most attractive rate at the time of booking, however the prize package portion must be completed by December 15, 2023.

There are many places nearby that are perfect for enjoying nature, taking wildflower island hikes and soaking in the natural beauty of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The background behind Kokomo Botanical Resort is quite interesting. Thirty years ago in 1993, Canadian-born and raised, Kelly Sullivan, Owner and Developer of Alive and Well Resorts, which includes Kokomo Botanical Resort, was scoping out property options for his real estate development dream and landed in Turks & Caicos. Seeing the beauty of the island, and its fifty shades of blue, Kelly immediately knew that this island would be the home of his real estate vision. Three years later in 1996 he acquired the property which became Kokomo Botanical Resort. While building the resort and bringing his vision to reality, Kelly worked diligently and harmoniously to honour the island’s environment, culture and people.
“Turks and Caicos is one of the most beautiful places in the world. When I heard about the chance to promote Kokomo Botanical Resort to fellow Canadians in the Niagara Region through SLIDERFEST, I seized the opportunity,” said Kelly Sullivan. “We hope the Grand Prize Sponsorship will raise awareness and entice people to consider Kokomo as a must-see destination when planning future trips. It is a good opportunity to get Kokomo onto the travel consideration list.”
2023 will be the fourth SLIDERFEST event which sold out each year from 2017 – 2019 inclusive, but has been in hiatus since 2020 due to pandemic restrictions. Back by popular demand, SLIDERFEST returns on August 12 this year. It is a “People’s Choice” contest for the best tasting slider. Ticketed guests who attend SLIDERFEST are served each of the specialty sliders and then cast their vote for their favourite. The winning chef will be awarded with the coveted Top Slider Trophy and bragging rights for the next twelve months.
Participating restaurants are Butcher & Banker, Culinary Dropout, The Righteous Monger (Kame & Kettle) and Smokin’ Buddha.
The early-bird ticket price prior to June 30 is $35 and includes entry, one of each of five slider recipes, French fries, corn and a non-alcoholic drink. Entry is free for kids under 12 but they must be entered on the website. Kid’s Menu items including hot dogs, individual sliders, fries, corn, freezies and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
In addition to the slider competition and Grand Prize, there will be live music by The Rhythm Hounds, dancing, a family zone, 50/50, raffle table draws, as well as an “Experiential Silent Auction”. A fun event for all ages. Proceeds go to Fonthill Lions Community Service.
