WORK PARTY: Invasive Honeysuckle Removal (Work-Party in Grimsby)

Join Alicia Aitchison and some of your hiking friends as we learn how to remove invasive honeysuckle from the Bruce Trail. Ecologists from the Bruce Trail Conservancy and certified chain sawyers will be joining as, as we learn how to pull honeysuckle by hand and using extractigators.

HIKING 101
Series of 3 Hiking Workshops Returns on Sunday September 10 at 11:00 a.m.
Margaret Northfield will be leading and sharing her joy of hiking during the next 3 session of Hiking 101. You will learn how to prepare for a hike; safety issues, what to bring on the trail, how to read the blazes and the maps; and the different types of hikes offered by Niagara Bruce Trail Club. Each workshop will include a 20-minute presentation and question-and-answer period, followed by a 1.5hr hike.

BRUCE TRAIL DAY – Sunday, October 1, 2023
The Niagara Bruce Trail Club, in collaboration with the Bruce Trail Conservancy, is welcoming everyone to join us as we celebrate the joy of hiking and the preservation of nature. Invite your friends to join us because we have hikes planned for everyone from the seasoned explorer to those who are just curious about nature and conservation.

Fitness Hike – Beginning at 9:00 a.m., Alan Laver will lead hikers who are looking for a personal challenge, through the Screaming Tunnel towards Fireman’s Park. The pace will be brisk as hikers work their way through irregular footing and undulating hills. This is a perfect hike for people who want to improve their fitness, balance and mental health within a supportive environment.

Nature Hikes – Join Adam Brylowski, the Bruce Trail Conservancy Manager of Conservation, and other NBTC hike leaders as they guide nature hikes and lead discussions about the Niagara ecosystems. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what we can do to preserve nature and local biodiversity. The hikes begin at 10:30 a.m.

Welcome Hikes – Have you ever wondered if hiking with others was for you, or do you have friends or family members who want a gentle hiking experience? Led by Angela Lytle, the Welcome hikes will provide a leisurely hike that reflects the theme of Bruce Trail for All. These hikes celebrate the unifying and connecting power of nature that bring us together and it is perfect for those of us who want to walk, enjoy nature and the company of others! These hikes begin at 11:00 a.m. and is a perfect opportunity to earn the “My First Hike” badge.

MERRITTHON – Just announced – Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Congratulations for making it this far into the E-Blast. The Niagara Bruce Trail Club is thrilled to be presenting its Merritthon on Sunday November 11, 2023 and a new Limited Edition Merritthon Badge..
Join us for the 45-kilometer hike / run / walk from Port Colborne to Port Dalhousie where everyone can challenge themselves according to their fitness level and goals.
