Niagara Health Foundation is excited to launch its annual Celebration of Lights holiday campaign. The annual campaign directly supports Niagara Health’s five hospital sites; funding urgently needed equipment that is essential for the treatment, diagnosis and recovery of our patients and residents in Niagara.
Niagara Health Foundation has once again partnered with the City of Niagara Falls, City of St. Catharines, City of Welland and Niagara Region to launch the annual campaign with tree lighting ceremonies.
Community members are encouraged to join in the ceremonies virtually as the tree lightings will be live-streamed on the Niagara Health Foundation Facebook Page (@NiagaraHealthFD) and Instagram account (@NiagaraHealthFD). The dates of the Tree Lighting ceremonies are as follows:
- Niagara Falls: Saturday, November 13 at 5:45 PM
- Niagara Region: Thursday, November 18 at 6:00 PM
- St. Catharines: Friday, November 19 at 5:30 PM
- Welland: Friday, November 26 at 6:00 PM
The Niagara Health Foundation has also partnered with Alectra Inc. Donations made to the Celebration of Lights holiday campaign will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000 by Alectra Inc. between November 30, 2021 and December 6, 2021.
Since 2014, community donations to the Celebration of Lights campaign have raised more than $975,000. Community members are encouraged to “celebrate recovery, support healing or honour someone special” by making a donation on behalf of a loved one. All Celebration of Lights donations of $50 or greater will have a “Holiday Bulb” on display at a Niagara Health site of the donors’ choosing.
Donations to the Celebration of Lights campaign can be made at www.lightsforhealth.com.

“I’m delighted to be representing Alectra at this year’s Celebration of Lights. Since 2017, Alectra has proudly supported this campaign, which raises funds to purchase necessary urgent care equipment for Niagara Health. “On behalf of Regional Council, I am pleased to be taking part in the annual Celebration of Lights
Campaign in support of the Niagara Health Foundation. As we all know, the work done by the Niagara
Health Foundation provides critical funding for the equipment, programs and projects that Niagara’s residents rely on in their times of need. This year, I encourage residents to not only participate in the lighting ceremony virtually, but also to consider supporting the Celebration of Lights Campaign should they have the means to do so.”
– Chair Jim Bradley, Niagara Region
“Lights…action! Turning on the switch at the Niagara Health Foundation’s Celebration of Lights Campaign signals the start of holiday festivities. We can’t wait to have our tree twinkling and show our support of the NHS Foundation and all of the good work they do throughout the year for families in our community!”
– Mayor Jim Diodati, Niagara Falls
“The City of St. Catharines is pleased to once again partner with the Niagara Health Foundation to help light up the tree at City Hall to celebrate the holidays, while also supporting the incredible work of Niagara Health. While we can’t come together as a community to flip the switch, I hope community members will join us virtually and consider making a donation on behalf of a loved one – helping light a bulb for the Celebration of Lights holiday campaign, and investing in improved healthcare in Niagara.”
– Mayor Walter Sendzik, St. Catharines
“We are delighted to once again partner with the Niagara Health Foundation in celebrating this holiday season in simultaneously launching the 2021 Celebration of Lights fundraising campaign in support of Niagara Health. Thank you to the Niagara Health Foundation and all the generous donors – you are making a difference in the treatment and care for those in need in our community. I would like to recognize and offer my heartfelt gratitude to all the Niagara Health frontline healthcare workers for their dedication and the tremendous and tireless work they do.”
