Please meet “Model Citizen”, Peter Dim, proprietor of the Dim Wine Co, in the Village of Jordan.
The Dim Wine Company might be one of Niagara’s newest wine labels, but Dim Vineyards have been growing grapes for local wineries for almost 50 years. Only a handful of Niagara farmers were planting Chardonnay and Riesling vines in the 1970’s, Peter’s father Ivan was one of them. He knew the climate and soil in Niagara was similar to his father’s hillside vineyards back in the old country.
Peter took over the reins 10 years ago with the desire to express the best terroir driven wines with the help of winemaker Andrzej Lipinski.
This years’ inaugural release of their first 6 wines have already placed Gold and Silver at the 2022 Ontario Wine Awards and the 2022 WineAlign National Wine Awards. A Gold Medal for their 2017 Forged Pinot Gris, a Silver for the 2016 Field Select Red and another Silver for the 2017 Ikarus Gewurztraminer.
Peter’s earliest memories of helping his parents in the vineyard are forever forged in the bottle labels he helped design. From the Great Escape Chardonnay label, telling the story of his 4-year-old legs running off across the vineyard to escape the chore of planting new vines, to the McCormick Pinot Noir, highlighting his first memory of driving his father’s old tractor at age 5.
With a new online presence, you can order their current selection and take advantage of their free local delivery. Stay tuned for upcoming releases of additional wines and make sure to be an inaugural member of the upcoming Dim Wine Club in the very near future. You can also find them at a growing selection of local fine restaurants.
