After listening to Murray Sinclair (Truth and Reconciliation Chair) and his suggestions for acknowledging Canada’s first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we have decided to stand in solidarity to show understanding and respect for our Indigenous peoples for the suffering and damage of Residential Schools and to encourage others to learn and believe the Truths of this suffering in order that we can all move forward towards reconciliation.

On Thursday, September 30, a small, committed group of us will be standing on the corner at the intersection of Niagara St and Woodlawn Road from 9am until 10:30am with signs of information to further understand this history and again from from 4 to 5:30 at the corner of highway 20 and Pelham St. We welcome anyone interested in joining us to acknowledge the importance of the Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission including the Calls to Action. We must help to make these findings part of our National memory so this sad history cannot be forgotten.
