Assist talented, keen and gifted young women achieve their post-secondary educational goals by attending the CFUW St. Catharines Annual House and Garden Tour on Sunday, May 26 from noon to 5 p.m. All proceeds from ticket sales are directed to the Club’s Charitable Fund which distributes dozens of awards, bursaries and scholarships to aspiring Brock University and Niagara College first-year students. Thanks to the generousity of donors and tour participants, we can offer financial support to ensure that qualifying individuals achieve their full potential.
This is the 50th event in the Club’s history. Over the decades, dozens of women have been able to pursue degrees and diplomas in the sciences, health medicine, engineering, the liberal arts, and law, to name a few areas of academic pursuit.
Local agencies that support women and children are beneficiaries of the Fund as well: Gillian’s Place; YWCA Niagara Region; United Way-CFUW Hygiene Kits; Westview Centre 4 Women; Niagara Nutrition Partners; and the Niagara Region Sexual Assault Centre.
Four distinctive homes and gardens in St. Catharines comprise the tour this year, along with “Spirit in Niagara” Distillery in Niagara-on-the-Lake, where snacks and beverages are available for purchase. Dr. Ian Ellingham, educator at the School of Restoration Arts at Willowbank, will provide an overview of the value of heritage architecture at the distillery at 1 p.m.; 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
