My name is Erica Williams. I am a graduate of the Social Service Worker program at Niagara College and I am currently a student at Ryerson University pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
I am also a proud mother of four beautiful children. During my employment at shelters that support women and children I noticed that there was a need. Shelters often receive donations of various items for example shampoo, soaps/body wash and make up etc. These donations never included hair or beauty care products for Black women.
One evening while on shift, a resident was searching through the donations. After taking all the items out of the bin, she then turned to me and said, “there is never anything for us in here”. It was after that experience that I started Erica’s Embrace.
It is my mission to continue donating hair and beauty care products for Black women to shelters and community organizations in the Niagara Region and throughout Ontario.
