Each year, generous donors have assisted vulnerable children and youth in the care of FACS Niagara by providing new backpacks and other school supplies.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for each child to have their own school supplies is a matter of health and safety
And as the pandemic continues, it is increasingly difficult for our families to meet even their most basic needs. Adding backpacks and other back to school supplies has the risk of overwhelming families living on the edge.
That’s why we need your help for vulnerable children and youth – to ensure they have what they need to stay safe and have a successful start to the school year.
Keeping Kids Safe:
By ensuring that their back to school needs are met, we can help children and youth stay strong during these trying times. We can keep kids safe and prevent the need for more serious child protection interventions. And, we can ensure that youth get the supplies they need because they have no family to turn to.
A Safe & Successful Return to School:
This year, we plan to distribute school supplies directly to families. Instead of a backpack stuffed with items a child needs for school, we will be delivering gift cards so families can purchase what they need.
Your gift of $50 now can can give a family the freedom to choose what they really need for their child’s successful learning and safety.
It might me a pencil case with their own markers, a solar calculator, and a backpack with a clipped-on bottle of hand sanitizer. For older children, their back to school supplies will also include three to five masks to keep kids safe.
A gift of $100 will help a family with two children with school supplies. Or, your donation of $250 now will help five vulnerable children and youth.
Whatever your gift, know that it will help some of the most vulnerable children and youth in the Niagara peninsula get ready for school.

Family & Children’s Services Niagara and the FACS Foundation are doing all we can to support families and children during their time of need in preparing for the return to school.
But we can’t do it without you.
