It was a good weekend for the Fort Erie Meteors.
The Mets won a pair of games to improve to 7-3 on the season, knocking off the Pelham Panthers 3-2 at home Saturday night before edging the Caledonia Corvairs by the same score Sunday afternoon in Caledonia. It was the first loss of the season in regulation for the Corvairs.
“Coming away with four points is always a good feeling,” Fort Erie general/manager coach Nik Passero said. “Felt like our top players were really good today in Caledonia and we kept most of their top guys off the scoresheet.”
Hunter Coley, Kyle Adamo and Liam Beamish scored for the Meteors at Caledonia while Blake Hall chipped in with a pair of assists.
Niagara IceDogs prospect Charlie Burns made 36 saves in net.
“Beamish, Hallsy and Adamo all had big nights and obviously Burnsy shut the door. Both games this weekend we had 40-plus shots and the offence is starting to come along,” Passero said.
Zack Lewis and Zachary Naherne replied for Caledonia.
Coley, Nolan Stickland and R.J. Schmidt scored against Pelham while Burns made 44 saves.
Jordan Adams and Riley Smyth countered for Pelham.
