Did you know we offering educational programming for schools throughout May and June at Brock’s Monument? This year, we are excited to launch two new educational programs!!
Did you know that there has been more than one monument built to Brock on Queenston Heights, or that Brock has been buried four times? Join us for an exploration of the Saviour of Upper Canada and his Monuments with our new program, ‘The History of Brock’s Monuments and the Lasting Legacy of Major- General Sir Isaac Brock’. This 45-minute program will highlight the Battle of Queenston Heights, and what happened after Brock was fatally wounded on the battle field. It will highlight the importance of Brock in early Canadian history, discussing the construction and destruction of his first monument, followed by a discussion on the construction of the second monument, and the lasting legacy it represents today. We will also discuss the deep connection between Brock’s Monument and the Landscape of Nations Memorial which commemorates the Indigenous contribution to the War of 1812. This new programs coincides with the 170th anniversary of the construction of the second monument to Major-General Sir Isaac Brock, and ends with an opportunity to climb the 235 steps to the top of Brock’s Monument.
Cost: $4.00/student and $5.00/adult with one complimentary chaperone free for every 10 students. To book a program, email us at admin@friendsoffortgeorge.ca or call 905-468-6621.
