Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across Niagara are working together on Project Snowflake this year, a fundraising initiative that will be running from October 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023. The initiative raises essential funds to help take children off their wait-lists and placed in life-changing mentoring programs. Niagara businesses and retailers can help by selling paper snowflakes and proudly displaying them at the point of sale to raise awareness of the impactful mentoring programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Community members can purchase snowflakes at participating retailers or online.
“Now more than ever, children and youth in our community need the support of a caring adult mentor. The pandemic has been so hard on children and youth, and mentorship is a proven solution we can implement to combat the impacts of social isolation.” says Erin Graybiel, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of North and West Niagara. “We cannot do it alone! Big Brothers Big Sisters relies on support from individuals and businesses in order to offer life-changing mentorship programs. We would encourage the community to get involved as a business supporter, individual donor, or volunteer today!”
“Both Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies ran similar campaigns last winter. We are excited for the opportunity to team up and share resources on one Niagara-wide fundraising initiative,” says Sarah Ludberg, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Niagara. “With many businesses spanning the Niagara Region, we are looking forward to a highly successful campaign.”
A friendly contest between participating businesses will be running throughout Project Snowflake, with an Advertising Prize Pack awarded to the business that sells the most Snowflakes. The prize pack will include radio ad spots, a featured post on both BBBS agency socials, an on-location photo op, a newspaper ad, recognition on both BBBS agency websites and recognition on Big Brothers Big Sisters of North and West Niagara’s street sign.
Niagara residents from the North and West communities, which include St. Catharines, Thorold, NOTL, Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln, are encouraged to donate to Project Snowflake online at https://nwniagara.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca. Residents from South Central Niagara; Greater Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, Welland, Pelham, Port Colborne and Wainfleet, should visit www.bbbsinniagara.ca. A full list of participating retailers will be available on both websites, updated throughout the campaign as new retailers are added.
