The City of Welland is proud to announce the return of the Fourth Annual Welland Girls Sports Day, taking place on Saturday, June 7th at the Empire Sportsplex. This exciting, free event invites girls aged 6 to 12 to explore the world of sports in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Running from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with on-site check-in beginning at 10:00 a.m., Girls Sports Day offers participants the chance to try out a wide variety of sports, including:
- Soccer
- Basketball and Wheelchair Basketball
- Softball
- Tennis
- Beach Volleyball and Sitting Volleyball
- Golf
The event is designed to encourage physical activity, build confidence, and foster a love of sports among young girls. It also provides a safe space to try something new, make friends, and learn from skilled coaches and mentors.
Every registered participant will receive a free lunch, free sunglasses, a free water bottle, and a free piece of sports equipment to take home—making this not only a great learning opportunity, but a memorable experience.
“Girls Sports Day is about more than just playing games,” says a spokesperson from the City’s Recreation and Culture department. “It’s about empowering girls, building community, and showing them they belong in any sport they choose.”
Registration is now open, and spaces are limited—so families are encouraged to sign up early.
