Niagara’s best female high school volleyball players put on a show at the Niagara Volleyball All-Star Game played May 15 at Lakeshore Catholic.
“I did not get medals for the winning teams because this wasn’t about winning or losing, it was about making memories while doing what you love to do with your friends,” organizer Tish Badawey-Snider said. “They (the players) got to share the court with other girls across the Niagara region that they have competed with and against over the last few years and all of them have made some wonderful memories to carry on with.”
Each all-star was given a shirt with their name on the back of it.
After the games, Badawey-Snider thanked Team North coach Christina Jovetic and Team South coach Emily Foest, both former Brock players, for taking the time to coach the games.
“I also thanked the athletes for giving up their time to participate. I know all of them are extremely busy right now so I wanted to thank all of them for taking part in the first annual girls volleyball all-star game for the Niagara region. When I first thought to do this, I had no idea the kind of response I would get. To get 43 athletes to show up and play was amazing,” she said. “It was a great evening with some amazing volleyball — games were close. It was so enjoyable to watch the smiles and the talent.”
